I've done it three time now with my Titans. They always fall out.

Different size hex screws ,as well with different types of glue.

Good luck!

PL premium. Comes in a silicon tube u need a silicon gun for it. crap sticks and bonds to all woods, most rubber and plastic base materials. Just let it cure for a day or so. Gotta be warm when applying and warm while it cures

Tried that, and jb weld marine and silicone and aquaseal. Problem is that the rubber is soft so it flexes as you walk so you need an adhesive that will Stay soft and flexible at freezing temps.

I bought 250 ice stud screws and they are almost all gone.

Baffin titans seem to be more prone in this adhesive issues.

Good point sir. Some u guys say self tapping screws. How do u screw the screws into the toe end of the boot? Or do u just run screws through the heal.

I used inch and a half hex screws (not bolts) and shoe goo. I've been walking around the ice on them for two seasons now with no issues and good traction, and I only did the front half of each sole leaving the heel half alone.

I think alot of the "screws-fell-out " problems are due to people not giving enough time for the glue to cure. I think the package said 48 hours but I left mine for 72 and haven't had a screw move at all. I don't know if this would work for the Titans, but did great on my Cabelas Pack Boots.

Thx for all the responses. It seems like the Titans are particularly problematic seemingly because of the softness of the rubber.

the problem i have with 'slip on' cleats is that they slip off a lot easier than on!!

If I can get to Barrie while PA still have them I will give them a good look over. I'm a bit concerned that they are cheap knock-off of poor quality.

I may still try the screws, though, and use the cleats when it's glare ice.

To you who said that screws still slip on the ice---are you referring to normal sheet metal screws or the special ones made for ice?
thx

IMO, good cleats should be similar to those ones on the pic (by design). Those ones will never slip of the shoe.
It's a difference in design (micro spikes) that makes those kind of cleats better than screws for traction.

I’ve used all kinds of studs in my wading boots over the years, from the expensive ones that they sell for ice, to the cheap self tapper sheet metal screws. The sheet metal screws work just as well as anything. They are best on scum covered rock. They work pretty well on bare ice. Where they fail is on ice with a light fluffy snow covering, as the snow compacts between the studs and you can still slip when hitting a bare or partially bare patch. Same thing if walking around with slush on the ice. The nice thing about princess auto is if your not happy they will take them back no questions asked.

For the guys complaining about the cleats falling off their boots. Get small diameter bungee cords; cut to length and fasten to the cleat and around the top of the boot. The one pair of cleats I had were great for traction; but kept falling off at the heel. One small bungee and the problem was solved.

Dan.

I let mine cure for a month lol was Super confident it was going to hold, repaired a bunch of other stuff with it and it help up great. By the time i walked out 1km 75% of the screws had fallen out, in fact most of the adhesive from the last attempt is still on the boots with the screw imprints in them. Boot flexes, adhesize flexes, screw doesn't and it separates.

I got these Yak Trak XTR that held on my baffin 14s well on sunday.
The spikes offer a whole new level of traction compared to the screws tho. Cant compare them, screws help you not slip, but those spikes just bite into the ice so hard I wouldnt go back even if i found an adhesive that worked.

Absolutely! This is what matters the most and not the fact that screws fall out.

The subzero ones at CT are crappiest cleats ever. They actually work like skates cuz they are in parallel lines and one direction only. Had me fall on ice more than bare boots. What a waste of money

I bought this pair from Canadian tire last year.

There from the HT company

I don’t think CT sells them Any longer but Im sure you can find them.

They work great and tie all around.

I got them On clearance for $12.99
I think regularly they were about $30 or so.

Put Self Tapping Screws in my Baffins 3 Seasons ago and haven't lost 1 yet. I used Bohning Ferr-L-Tite Cool Flex Adhesive Stick. I use it on my hunting arrows, it's flexible and waterproof and seems to work for me. I think you can get it at any of the big outfitters. I think the stick cost me $8.00 and its easy to use just heat the end up with your lighter or candle dip the threads of the screw in and insert into your boot. You have to be fairly quick about it though as it hardens quick.
