Hi folks been neglecting the forum between work and fishing been a little burnt out at night. Here's my report from waubashene to port Severn. Pike fishing has been good to great at times, have landed 137 to date since opener no real lunkers yet the biggest topping out at 8 pounds mostly in the 3-6 pound range one large fish lost at the boat we estimate 12-15 pounds but that doesn't count. However only 1 walleye to date (I wonder why? C previous post on that topic). Had a horrible experience on Sunday as I was weighing in a small channel cat about 13 pounds it fell from the scale and the whole barb was embedded in my ankle now I know what a crucifixion would feel like. After placing a tournique around the ankle to stop the bleeding I rushed back to shore for first aid. After treatment I was back on the water to test my skills again for the ultimate walleye and pike but seemed to stumble upon a group of voracious largemouth no kidding that's all that seemed to bite as I landed ten of them in two hours a couple approaching five pounds. Very weird I wish they were walleye but I know where they have gone. Good fishing will keep u up to date. Oh yah the panther Martin in gold has been real hot.

Didnt see or smell any of that stuff shank however I fish way south of that area my area borders waubashene to port Severn to Methodist island and I seldom venture further. I did manage one 5.25 pound Goldie the other day and had one of similar size shake me off at the boat. Mayfly hatch is on now and in years past have seen this just cover the lake surface.

From what i understand is that if you can find a mud hole or flat in a lake this is where the may fly larva will hatch and the walleye will target them as a pure source of protein. If you can find this type of area you could have a very good day!Not sure what bait to use but i've herd a small black jig produce well.Good Luck

Hi OT; Over the past years ive noticed that almost all fish that swim will gorge up on mayflys or the pre stage the nymphs...Walleye,whitefish,all panfish and probably even our bottom dwellers...It is the "TIME" to have a fly rod in hand..
