I'm very sad to say after 16 years my boy is in doggie heaven now

I've always wanted a dog when I was younger and my dad found a rescue dog from his buddy at work....

I was 14 years old and one day he came home with him. I couldn't believe it, a "big" dog first night he was with us no more than 2 hours and he managed to grab a shaving razor from the shower and started to knaw on it ....

Hes 'stolen' multiple bars of chocolate, ate tinfoil at least 5 times , polished off half a bottle of advil.

He also had "kennel cough" which was the last time I ever took him to a dog park

Hes a border collie / lab / Irish settler mix .

Growing up he had that border collie blood in him at all times . We would be walking on leash with me(Scarborough) and he would stop, drop and the collar would slip off and he would B line down the sidewalk to the open field .

Once he stopped he would drop down and let you get within 5 feet of him then bolt away again haha sheep doggin it

Fast forward to now ill be 30 next month.  He would have been a fine Bush dog to me if I was into the fishing/hunting earlier in my life. He probably might have made the cut ;p

Thanks for reading guys, just need to vent a bit

Ps . He was a family pet so we kept him a bit chunky

Sorry to hear about your loss buddy. Mines been gone a little over a year now, I know what you’re going through. It’s good you got so many years with him. Thanks for sharing those pics, they’re really nice.

Cheers

Thanks guys. Definitely hard on me, but I was able to spend many many years with him which I'm blessed to have did.
he has beat the odds for just about every issue/ illness in his younger years which I am grateful for.

very hard on you and the family, the passing of a best friend. Dogs are funny when they get old. they are getting old but just don' know it. My last friend who passed away was stealing socks and playing with sticks 2 days before he left us. My deepest condolences, I know exactly what you and your family are going through. Time heals but you never forget them
