I hate it even more when you are trying to pass them on the right they start accelerating. Recenly was a couple of minutes behind a lady going 100-105 and when I was passing her we both were well above 130...

Could not agree more....especially with lack of use of signal lights.
has really gotten worse last few years and not just on 401, but everywhere
Have to disagree on that one. Signalling your intent in the GTA is counterproductive. It just gives some a'hole a chance to move up and fill the spot you were going to move into.

What I dislike most is, some (in fact many) who pretend never noticed the posted signs everywhere along all the major highways "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT"! I mean you stay on the left-most/fast lane driving sloooowwwly blocking people behind. Come on! If you don't want to drive any faster, that's your freedom, your right and your choice, and that's perfectly fine. But please, move your a$$ to one of the lanes on your right. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In NY state, at least, that rule seems to be well enforced.

I can almost guarantee you that the vast majority of those are non Caucasian drivers with a large amount from the pacific rim.
That's right. Caucasian folks don't block the fast lane, they don't litter ,they dont steal and they don't fish great lakes with nets. BullS#1T I know it's not the 401,however when I am traveling on the 400 and 11 it's not old men with hats ,asians or any other demographic blocking the hammer lanes. Its middle age caucasian men driving pick ups with their cruise set at 110 kmph. Even though all other lanes are free and clear ,they still feel the need to travel in the 3rd lane. You can spin this as a race thing but you will be very far from the truth in my own opinion. Some people have a difficult time grasping the concept that the 3rd lane is for passing slower traffic. And when the center lane is clear you move back.

I was waiting for someone to speak up about the racist comment. Simcoe, I have to disagree with you a bit, I find it more female blondes in really big SUV's, but they tend to never pull back because they are going to fast and dont need too. Honestly, it is all colours that do this. My beef is more of the big rigs in the 2 lane stretches of the 401 where one tries for 20 miles to pass another going 104k and tie en up cars for the whole way. and yes i'm old and drive 108k but always in the right lane. It is by far the least aggravating.

I don't think it's a racist comment at all. Just an observed stat. I know there's grandmas and grandpas that sit in the middle lane going 99 too but if you see and add up the numbers, it doesn't lie. There have been documented observations to get their licence, they go a small town with no traffic to do the road test cuz there's no way in a high traffic area they'd ever pass.

Try driving a truck with a 53 ft trailer gearing up getting ready for a hill . I flash them to speed up and some door knob is doing 60-80 km in the slow lane . I then pass in the middle lane .... half way up signal back over and then flip the 4 ways on because we are on “grade “.
Once finally up the hill they now decide to step on it and pass and flip me the finger .

I agree with you on that note .
On a drivers perspective the biggest mistake they did was governing trucks to 105km . Main cause from them not passing each other for miles. Also , many trucks are geard differently for that speed limit which makes it harder to pass underload or up a hill .

It is the same or worse where there is an HOV lane. Folks seem to totally forget that this lane us supposed to be for passing unless the highway is full then it doesn't matter.
I am fairly fortunate that I don't have a long drive on the southern Ontario highways and can flex my work hours to help miss a lot of the traffic.
In an effort to try and reduce blood pressure I usually have the cruise set at 100 in the slow lane going to work at 4:30am. Takes maybe a minute longer to get there. I am not going to get a speeding ticket going to work!
Now heading north to the cottage on Fridays is a different story! I don't do the steady 130s but try to go with the flow if I am in the fast lane and slow back down to my speed when I have made the pass. I will also click the cruise off for a few seconds if I see someone coming up fast when I want to pass, wait till they go by and make the pass. I know others use their mirrors cause they pull out in front of me all the time when there is time to wait for me to go by.
No common courtesy or patience left out there on the roads!
2 and a half years and my wife and I will be out of southern Ontario. It cannot come soon enough!
Neil
Isn't the HOV lane a carpool lane ment for vehicles with 2 or more ppl ?

When I head north from the Niagara area I leave the house at 3am. I am towing a boat with a lot of gear for a weeks vacation. I set the cruise at 100 kph and I stay in the slow lane unless I have to pass a slower vehicle. Six hours later we arrive at the lake stress free and with a little more fuel in the tank. I've been travelling this way for over 40 years and yes the traffic is getting crazy. I almost feel guilty by not driving faster but I am retired and I want to get to the camp safe and sound. To everyone please drive carefully.
we do the exact same thing, except leave at 4 am and have a relatively stress free drive up.....
coming home we try to time it to be home by 1pm....4,5 hr drive
