Just finished reading an article in the latest OOD regarding wild boar in the province, I just wonder what other hunters think of having boar as another hunting option. Being of European background I have hunted them in Germany and found it to be one of the most exciting hunts there is. Yes they do some damage and yes they can be aggressive but the taste of wild boar is unimaginable. The facts as laid out in the article are IMHO a little extreme, but again I just wonder what others think

that was a good read, i would like that chance to hunt boar in Ontario,i would buy in to that , and yes they do alot of damage to the farm and bush lands making them unusable for years, i have free ranged pigs on my farm and it takes a few years to bring that land back to be used, as they root they take all the goodness, minerals ect

I think they would be fun to hunt. I think they would taste great. But I don’t know if the impact they have on our other animals and the environment are worth it though. If they do arrive / escape and take a foothold in any numbers it will be interesting to see how the mnr handles the hunting situation. Following this close as there have been several recent sightings of wild black pigs about 15 minutes south of me.

My opinion is that they should do everything to keep them out. They do to much damage and look at the states that have them, they can't get rid of them. They just keep getting more and more which means more damage. We don't need that around here. Yes they taste great, but there is more to it then just taste.

If its a pig hunt you want make it a bucket list hunt and go for a trip.
Don't know anywhere once they become endemic anyone was happy too have 'em.
Rather the MNR get off their rumps and get back to restocking upland birds and fish like the good ole days.

Those pigs eat anything & everything. They are hard on ground nesting birds like grouse. Upland birds have it tough with the coyotes so the last thing they need to hide from is a herd of screaming greasy pigs Put a bounty on them before it's too late.

Don't need any extra incentive to kill a pig running around the bush.
