fishing he long weekend, where to go and what to use

Hi i am going up to parents cottage this coming long weekend and was hoping to catch some walleye and bass and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what to use and where to go.My parents are down near the Hastings end on the trent river and was wondering if anyone knows of spots down there or aywhere close to there my dad doesn't like to venture to far and we always seem to fish the same spots down by old Suunymead cottages and trolling in the channel in Hastings if anyone has fished those spots are near by any info would be great.

Do you have a boat or will you be fishing from shore?

yes we have a boat but not a very good fish finder
