Geez Chevy, to put this up here for all us to see, you gotta either be a bit slow, or just a sucker for punishment I can only imagine what’s coming for replies now On a serious note, that does suck. I’ve been in construction for over 20 years now, and it often seems to be the older guys I see that have been doing it forever that get these kind of injuries. Seems like after years of not getting hurt, a certain confidence builds up until there’s a small slip of attention and suddenly ouch! I’ve been there myself ( although not with a saw ), and it’s not fun.

I’ll go with sucker for punishment. Your not wrong with experience and overconfidence. I’ve done this 34 years and never ever came close to cutting a digit off. I’m very experienced and fast with a saw. I was cutting a piece of 3/8 plywood with 3 different angles on it. After making the first 2 cuts (finger still on the trigger) I tried to move the saw left for the final cut and the saw caught the edge of the plywood for a second then momentum shot the saw to my left hand. Speed kills and machinery has no mercy, I was damn lucky not to lose 1/2 my pinky.

Lucky you didnt loose hand. Bet that hurt. I almost cut off my index finger when I was just starting out with hand miter saw. If been power would have lost all fingers.

Thanks guys. Ya, machinery can be unforgiving to say the least. Hopefully my little mishap can be a reminder to be safe out there. As far as my impending harassment, I look forward to it. Some of you guys come up with some pretty stuff. Humour is the spice of life and I love to laugh... even at myself. Cheers Kerry
