Been out a few times and found a couple dozen one day, but mostly just the odd one. Found a forest full of dead and dying elms as well as old apple trees yesterday, seemed like it would be a hot spot but no dice.

From what I've read, they say you should cut them or pinch and twist just above the base so you leave a bit of the stipe (stem). The idea is not to damage the root system. If you find a bunch, leaving a few behind for spore dispersal is also recommended.

Anyone still finding morels? Went back to a spot where I found some about 10 days ago thinking there may have been a second flush but only found a few - and I think they were just ones I missed the first time around.

You guys are real lucky at least you have found some. I live in North Bay and have looked for them for years.

Not even sure if we have any around here. Anyone out there ever found any this far North?

I guess I can answer my own question. Checked a spot where I found a few last week and struck gold.

I think it's 15 but the picture got compressed a little too much to spot a few them. There were 40 all together in that one spot. I would think things would still be good in the North Bay area. Season seems to be all but over down here. Still finding a few but they`re way past their prime.

ive been watching this guys youtube channel,he takes morels, belends them with sawdust and molasses and then puts in a 5 gallon bucket and fills with water...then aerates it for 24 hours.....he then pours the liquid near his wood pile and other areas and the morels flourish!!!

I have been hunting mushrooms of all kinds for years. Just an FYI but many studies point toward pulling any type of mushroom is better for the Mycelium and even promotes new growth. Mushroom do not have roots. Think of it this way, the Mycelium is like an underground tree. The mushroom is only the fruit of the tree. Just like picking and apple doesn’t hurt the tree picking a mushroom does no hurt the Mycelium.

Several of my friends have spots they pick. Some have had banner picks weeks ago where other have had zero in their spots. In the last two days one of my spots has just now begun to produce. Just a late year in some areas.
