The little spears, slashes, subtle or not so subtle punches to the head, slew footing and border line, if not outright illegal checks the Bruins have been getting away with this entire playoffs, actually for yrs. All designed to rattle the other team's cage so they take penalties.
The Bruins do this sorta thing on purpose to goad players to retaliate, and then dive like soccer players. What's really telling is the entitlement from the coaching staff to have the nerve to preach about discipline after that game. Can't wait for steaming load of BS from Cassidy when they lose on the road. LOL, Neely having a conniption fit because the calls aren't going in his favour was priceless.
Booo hooo for the Brooooooons. Scum organization from top to bottom. Biggest cheapshot artists in the league, lead and mentored by Bepop and Rock Steady, aka Chara and Marchand. Can't wait for Dumbo Don to spew his drivel on national TV, more truculence, more punch pail, more blue collar work ethic, blah, blah, blah.
Leafs or Habs Fan?, LOL.Yes, previous Bruins teams have had the reputation you are referring to. The last Bruins team to play that way would have been the 2011 Stanley Cup roster,...but so did many other teams However, since that time the NHL has been trying to clean things up with the head shots, slew foots, and vulnerable aggressive hits. The Bruins management over the last several years have built very different looking teams to evolve in the direction that the league is going.
The current Blues roster is an exception to what is trending as they have built a physically big and aggressive team who punish teams with there size and strength. You are also correct in saying that the NHL officiating has a tendency to put the whistles in their pockets and stop calling some penalties during the playoffs that would normally be called in any other game during the regular season schedule. Some get let go that would normally be called as a 5 minute major and a game with possible suspension. Life's not fair at the best of times so teams like the Bruins have to buck up and engage the Blues with the same mindset if they want to succeed and win.
If the referees are letting some questionable over aggressive or dirty play go on without being penalized then as a player on the opposing team you should identify it and respond accordingly to keep things balanced,... or just drop the gloves and settle things out while sending a message to the opposition. Don't whine and cry about it,... take action and give yourself a chance to compete.
Has there even been a bare knuckle round in the playoffs this year?,...sometimes it's what a team needs to get the troops going.
This is the mindset the Bruins have to enter game 6 with,... and I condone it as a matter of survival,... and I am not really interested of what Leaf or Hab fans have to say about it.

I hate the Bruins.
That is the dirtiest team lead by the worst of them all Brad Marchand. What a clown. He would be twice as good if he wasn't such a P.O.S. give me a break. When a player tries to break another players stick during a face off it's pretty clear that he is a dirty cheater.

So, he breaks another players stick and now must be considered a low life deplorable hockey cheater,...LOL!
You do realize that we are talking about the game of hockey and not badminton, golf or tennis. Please tell me you are aware of the many sticks that are chopped and broken by a wide array of hockey players in a day during the regular and playoff NHL seasons.
The Bruins are the dirtiest team?,... have you watched any of the St.Louis Blues playoff games this year? lol. Don't kid yourself,... every team cheats in various ways to get the edge over their competition. Professional sports are not about lollypops, rainbows, unicorns and white puffy clouds.
Love him or hate him,... Marchand has a Stanley Cup ring and may get another if the Bruins get their A$$ES in gear on Sunday to force a game 7. Either way they are in the big dance for the third time in 8 years. Beats still waiting to get there for the last 26 or 52 years.
Sounds like their are a lot of Leaf fans out there who are still feeling the game 7 hurt,... for the third consecutive time.

The Bruins rose to the occasion. Game 7 baby !
They made the necessary adjustments to stay live. However, they still make me very nervous with the difficulty they have to clear the puck out of their zone at times. Bruins have to tighten that up that over the next couple of days.
Pastrnak finally broke out of his funk for the first time in this series and netted one,... I think it was the first 5 on 5 goal the first line scored.
Looking forward to both teams leaving it all on the ice,... it's kamikaze time,

Well, only one word describes it for me,... BINNINGTON! He played the best game of the series and Rask arguably played his worse.
Thought Boston played the offensive game they needed to as they out-shot the Blues 33 to 20. Lots of offence but their defensive zone missed coverage cost them the game,... and again Rask did not look sharp at all in my view. Blues defence did a great job blocking shots too.
Got a sense after the first that it was not going to be the Bruins night. Power play couldn't click and going down 2-0 late in the first with 7.6 seconds left when the second goal was scored is a death blow in a game 7.
I'm satisfied with the Bruins effort as they left it all on the ice but just wasn't their night for getting the bounces and they faced a white-hot goaltender. Game sevens are won on mistakes and Boston made a handful more than St.Louis.
Can't complain too much as they have been in the cup final 3 times in the last 8 years. I'm confidently sure Toronto and Montreal fans are celebrating the Bruins loss. I've already heard from a few and have graciously reminded them of their continued wait for their teams to return to the Stanley Cup final after a 52 and 26 year drought,... respectively. It will eventually happen,... and if not in your lifetime perhaps your children's,... or maybe their children's,... or something like that, lol.
Also, hats off to the refs for officiating a game 7 as it should be by letting the two teams decide the outcome,... exceptional job.
This years strange playoffs,... started with the first overall Tampa Bay Lighting out in round one and finished with a St.Louis Blues team who were dead last in the standings by December then climbing to 12th overall to make the playoffs and winning the cup,... an odd year indeed.
Congrats to the Blues winning their first Stanley Cup as they deserved it for playing a perfect road game.
I'll probably see the cup this summer at Steve Ott's place in Stoney Point as my nephew is very goods friends with him by way of playing their minor hockey together out of Belle River. I'll make sure not to wear any of of my Boston colours, lol.
And now I must honour a bet and fly the Blue Note while listening to some St.Louis blues performed by Kim Massie.

Well played Chevy...…..nice new avatar JACKPOT
Yeah,...it's referred to as honouring a bet. Congrats to Chevy for picking the winning team. Boston lost the game in the first period and Binnington was the sole reason for that outcome,... the kid is for real and should be awarded the Vezina Trophy. On the other hand Rask came no where near bringing the game he needed to carry the Bruins to a game 7 win,... pure and simple.
