I'm pretty brand new to fishing and this forum has already helped me learn a lot about steelheading. I've put my float rod away for the next few months but I hear that bass season is starting very soon! Trouble is I don't even know where to start looking for bass in my area: Thornbury/Collingwood... I've very casually fished for bass during the summer at a buddy's place on a medium-sized lake in Muskoka. If you have even half a clue (like me!) about what structures attract bass then you can easily catch smallies in that area. But where do I look near me? Sadly I do not have access to a boat so I'm stuck on the shore for now (might get a canoe this summer). I would gladly welcome any tips about where to fish and presentation suggestions. Remember, I'm fairly clueless, so no tip is too basic!

Hi ; the shore line around Collingwood holds some nice small mouths , at the elevators throw out a leech with a sliding sinker also in almost all rocky areas , they get some brutes 3-5 lbs + ..

Let us know how you make out ..

Thanks for the tip! I’ve never used a siding sinker rig - seems pretty simple though. What depth of water should I look for? We have some rocky shore near the harbour in Thornbury, do you think that would hold bass as well?

Leechs and worms work great and are a good way to get started with small mouths for sure!
