I have been a member of the Thunder Bay fishing Web site for the past several years and have really enjoyed the information exchange between outdoors people. I plan on moving to the Owen Sound area over the next year and would like to keep up with the fishing news. I do a lot of tournement fishing both for Walleye and salmon. As a new member I would be open to info on the big lake.
Looking forward to seeing some of you on the water

Just got back from Lake Superior, three salmon between 2-5lbs. The bigger ones won't be in until July-Sept.
I fish with a 20ft deep Legend with a 150 is it suitable for Owen Sound

In your opinion is the Owen Sound area the best location for salmon or is it better in the Collingwood areaor others???

Barrski, welcome to the south, I too came from the north, Geraldton, still have a sister near Red Rock. The fishing in Owen Sound gets better as summer progresses, your boat will be perfect for the bay and other areas nearby. Once you get to know the area, there are every kind of fish and fishing opportunities you can think of all within a short distance of Owen Sound. The lake Huron side is offering up salmon now, not huge, but excellent eaters, walleye are in, just finished a long run of jumbo perch. Gotta go, I'm going fishing.

Thanks for the info guys; meeting with a builder now and it is looking like I will be in Owen Sound by next spring.

Just wondering what the going tackle for salmon is in the Sound

In Wawa we use flashers with squid or cut bait seems to work the best.

In Thunder Bay we use spoons 90% of the time.

All the best and looking forward to seeing you on the water!!

In Owen Sound, Lymans are a must... In the spring Yo-Zuri body baits work well and has the season dips in the the fall Lymans, and cut bait/anchovies are keys to success (for me anyways).

My house is being built and we should be in it by June 2013.

Will have my boat in OS for the salmon derby in August as I will leave my boat in TB until the week long Salmon derby is held in July.

Boated over 40 salmon this year in the 8 days, still boating some 10-12 lb.

Top derby winners were 20-25 lb range

See everyone in August
