Looking to make a little road trip out east with the fish hound and the Missus in August. These all seem around 18 hours drive one way which isn't too bad as we only have a week off. We just want to fish for anything or gather whatever, see some stuff and eat a bunch of seafood. Just read the Newfoundland thread and that seems awesome but too far for a week long road trip. So far PEI seems cool with all the clams and scallops, mussels along with other shellfish and lobsters and what not. I never made it east past Quebec city so have no clue. Any suggestions and personal experiences are welcome. Thank you.

PEI is a good choice.
Wherever you decide to go, make sure to take highway 30 in Quebec, in order to get around Montreal. It avoids all the traffic on highway 40 and the elevated highway and the tunnel.
Highway 30 starts about 30km East of the Ontario border and you get back on Highway 20 about 30km East of Montreal. Saves a lot of time and aggravation.

PEI if your looking for seafood, Shediac New Brunswick is the capital for lobsters and has amazing tides (Parlee Beach) and you can't beat the scenery of Cape Breton Island/Cabot Trail where the seafood is plentiful and whale watching tours are a must.

If you want to fish, go to cape tormentine, its right near the bridge to go over to PEI, on the NB side. Its actually the old ferry pier from before the bridge. Go fish for mackeral off the pier, using something flashy (Their own belly works wonders once you catch one) under a bobber works great.

You can't go wrong with NS, the cabot trail is a must see in all lifetimes , their fishing for specs native or sea run is great , their licence fees are resonable and you don't require a guide .. If you have the heart for it try the Margaree for atlantics on the fly .. lots of great seafood too ..I'm going back

Thank you all for your tips and advice. PEI is the chosen place at the end. Kier I believe we will be visiting that pier in NB. Looks great! Trip got bumped up to September and falls in line with a buddy of mine also being on the island for a tuna trip which i am hoping to join him on. Can't wait!

Nova Scotia is a beautiful place ... advise from someone who drove to nfld The ferry across can be very pleasant or downright scary if you suffer from motion sickness even a little cross that one off the list

Hey man , I'd be down there now if not for mas mobility issues , was about now we were down, had a great trip ,lots of specs and sea runs , lots of great seafood and the trip topper was my fishing the margaree forks for two days , guess i was a lucky novice ,got three atlantics in two days , quite the sight fishing a bomber (which is a large dry fly , this one almost looked like a frog) floats along and pow ..surface hit like a largemouth and too many jumps to count .. all fish were carefully handled and released ..
