Took this picture couple weeks ago. I have no idea what kind of birds these are. They are about twice the size of a cowbird, the head of the I assume male was as golden as a loonie. Another person parked beside us asked us if we know what they were.

Don't think I've come across that one before. Yellow headed blackbird maybe?

We looked at the yellow headed black bird too, but it was really gold and just the head like a cow bird head.

There has to be a web site that you can submit this photo -- those bird people are crazy for photos!

Brown headed cowbird or Yellow headed blackbird.
But both these birds are about the same size 6 to 8 inches

I checked the crow family, and did not find a yellow / golden headed variety native to Canada.

Hmmm.. got me stumped if not a cowbird or blackbird.

My guess would be immature yellow headed blackbirds. The light strip from the beak to the eye with the light head and dark body leads me to my guess.

Upon further investigation I’m not 100% sold on my guess. I’m going to send the pic to a buddy that might have an better idea.

Well with a couple of opinions from some better birders then I, their opinion is juvenile Grackles.

never seen a grackle that looked like that, but the size is right. the one definitely had gold and the other an off white head.

Guess it will go down as a new one for me.

I agree, could very likely be a grackle juvi..

Most likely a colour variation. I have seen some messed up colour patterns in some of these common birds.

An albino grackle, that was all a light grey-white / light brown.

Also I have a house sparrow in my backyard right now with white banded wings.

I think they are genetic variations - that simply don't match our bird books.
