Thanks for the reply Longshank. I've only been fishing a year and my friend is super old school and just gets his info from what other guys around here tell him, no internet for him.
I have been wondering if the gobies coming in and feeding on zebra muscles has been responsible for the spikes in contaminants even tho we keep putting out less pollution into the lakes ( least I think we do maybe im dead wrong there.)

great lakes by no means are clean, but I don't think the northern are any better. All the mining and logging that went on years ago. All that crap has settled on the bottom of the lakes. Really don't think it matters one way or the other, you are going to catch fish that have been around contamination.

I'm no scientist, so can only go so deep on this. I believe we really worry about all this stuff way too much
In my lifetime EVERY food/beverage item that was studied to death and then warnings put out to not consume have done a complete 180. the latest is now red meat
here\s my formula.....fish for a day and get 10 added to your life worry about something you can't change...lose 5
