Well, our plans changed a bit from fishing on Friday and Sunday as our cat decided to get sprayed by a skunk on Friday morning. Had to stay home and give him a couple of baths and try to freshen up the house. Decided to get out of the stink and book a room for Saturday night so we did a Saturday night and Sunday morning fish. Saturday was from 2-7:30 under bluebird skies, with a few bass, 2 cigar walleye, 1 keeper walleye at 14.5" which went back and a 24" muskie lost at the boat which snapped the line. We also had our first swim off the back of the boat which helped cool us down. Back on the lake at 6am with overcast skies. I thought, great, a good morning to fish but nothing except for a perch bit until 10am when the sun started coming out. Headed to Fenelon and found a honey hole which produced numerous rock bass, 5 crappie (one was 11" and was in the livewell but no more big ones caught so it went back), 2 bluegill, some smallies and an under-slot walleye. All fish were caught within an area as small as 50 sq ft. Thunder clouds were starting to move in so we headed back to the dock, and headed home. In all, a great weekend fishing but no monsters to brag about.

Great report and sounds like you guys had fun... Nothing wrong with a bonus muskie..
Fish were concentrated in small schools with us as well and I was surprised to see the weeds lower than usual. With this heat wave and sun, I was expecting more slop..
I got back today as well, just missed the thunder storms. Rained cat, dogs, birds & fish here today..

We were also talking about the weeds/rice not being as high as usual. Maybe it is too hot for them?? Found a nice drift in goose that produced the walleye and muskie and will have to return there on Friday night. We also missed the storms as we made our way back home but apparently it was torrential.

Yes, I have a theory about the lower than usual weeds in the Kawartha Lakes this year..
This is my theory:
Since we had a relatively dry winter, spring and summer, run-off from the farmers fields that dot the landscape all along the system has been low. This reduced the phosphates in the lakes and even though we have had blue bird skies with lots of "Sun Energy", the nutrient levels were not as high as previous years and the weeds have not grown to their true potential. Plants need more than just sun for healthy growth and I think we are seeing more natural lake weeds without the phosphate injection provided each spring/summer by man's contribution to the system.. This is my thought anyway..

Thanks guys.
Stink is still around a bit but not too bad. Will just take some time to air out but being so hot, we don't want to open up the windows yet. Maybe this afternoon when I get home. I would rather be skunked on the water than have a skunk spray the cat but now that the cat has been skunked, we should be good for catching fish. Hopefully we won't be on the boat this weekend.

I noticed a difference with the weeds this year as well. When I was on Sparrow last weekend, many weedbeds I normally fish were dead or dying. Had to do a bit of searching to find some nice fresh cabbage with big largies.
