So I wanted my first ever solo hunt bird to be special and decided to attempt my own hand at a mount. What do you guys think? Be honest but remember I am an amateur and this is my first ever mount of anything. 😂

That as good as i have seen, my only thing to say is I prefer the wing feathers together, but that just me. The only problem I can really see is that you have no where to go now. Like shooting a extremely large big, as your first on, can on go down from there.

Actually this bird was much smaller than the second bird I shot this year. Lol. Made me sad that I was doing the big mount of the lessor bird but being such a special one I will live with it.

Pretty neat. How did you preserve the skin? I have to say the first thing that came to my mind was ...."Did you you gut it first"lol lol lol. Just joking I assume you covered the skin with Borax to soak up moisture and preserve?

Yes Borax. First scrape off all fat. For the wing peg in place and slit the bottom of the wing everywhere their is muscle/meat and dig it all out to just leave skin. Pack those areas well with borax make sure all the skins are pinned down so they don’t shrink or curl.
