I just got word from the land I hunt on from the owner, he has cancelled our turkey hunt. Even though we hunt alone his wish is no one enters his property. His wish is respected. Take this as just a suggestion, as tempers flare any of the fellow hunters out their maybe could call their land owners and ask before assuming you have permission. Seems like the correct respect in these tough times. Any idea how to apply for a licence refund?

It is HIGHLY unlikely that you will be given a refund, buy at your own risk. I would not be purchasing anything until I was 100% sure it was going to happen and certainly not a month + in advance. The situation changes almost hourly.

So true, I was at Cabelas and it was an impulsive buy, I knew I needed it as all was a go, then all hell broke loose.

Always best practice to confirm access with landowners prior to going. Shouldn't assume anything. Haven't made my usual runs yet out of consideration and will be utilizing the phone as we get closer too. Haven't purchased my tags yet due to the uncertainty however I feel if they don't cancel the season may have a hard time getting a refund. I maybe in the same boat though as I've purchased a season provincial park pass and may be looking for a refund if they don't open Sibbald by May.

I have memberships to various things and have already recieved emails that they will be extened 2-3 months beyond the experation dates. This may happen with park passes as well, but the government has bigger problems to worry about at the moment.

I agree, you should never assume you have permission unless you have spoken with the land owner that year. I have been hunting the same property for 10 years now and always call or go and talk to the farmer (not go this year, call only). I called week ago to go set up tent and camera's. Will call again just before season, for all properties i have permission on. If I get a no that is fine, it is their property.

Yesterday, I had to go for a short drive on the Horseshoe Valley Rd.

In one of the fields I passed, their were about 2 dozen turkeys.

Old tom all puffed out and his harem around.

I’ve been seeing the toms out strutting. Always a great sight.
