I have made wild grape jam turnovers, but tonight will make sugar pastry.

When making a pie there is typically dough left over. I will gather it up into a ball. sprinkle lots of sugar on the flattened ball. Roll to get thinner, put more sugar on it and roll more. This could take repeating 3 or 4 times. on the last roll i put the sugar and cinnamon (optional) not a lot but some, roll. I should be as thin as you can make it. Mine is almost paper thin. Place this on cookie sheet. I usually get enough for 2 cookie sheets. Once pie is done, I put the cookie sheets in the oven, leave the temp turned on for a couple minutes or so, then shut oven off. Leave in oven with door closed until cold. I usually forget them in over until next day.

Makes a really good snack and kids and me love them.

This basically came from my father in-law in Quebec, only he put salt on them to make like chips. I don't use much salt so I tried with sugar.

We generally put brown sugar and cinnamon on it. Then roll it up like a pinwheel. Always a big hit with the kids.
