Hello everyone! Hope you're all staying safe.
I've heard that the government is about to ban a whole bunch of firearms including "AR-15" style "Assault rifles". I am just wondering if anyone knows if its too late to buy one now? apparently this is supposed to pass tomorrow. If I am able to purchase one before the ban do you think i'll get issued my license so I can take it home?

I am not up to speed on the timing of the legislation, but justin was very quick on using the tragedy in Nova Scotia as justification for the ban. Since AR-15 based rifles are restricted, you need a restricted PAL to buy one. If you dont have an RPAL, nobody is going to sell you one. If by "license" you meant an ATT then most likely yes, since you would become the owner of the firearm when you pay for it. Also, if the legislation does pass tomorrow, it will not be effective tomorrow, it will have an effective date sometime in the future.

^^^ lol thanks for the morning laugh
To the OP..... Wait a few days and see what happens.... this is an ongoing battle for the last 5 years for JT . You should have jumped on the wagon a while ago and bought just a lower receiver to reserve your spot. There's still time I think. Anyways here's to hopefully getting grandfathered in

Be part of the solution not the problem... There is no sane reason to own an ar-15 period
Oh, are you the gun pope who decides? Maybe they should ban knives, they kill people too, maybe we'll take your car away, you might get hammered some night and run over 20 people. The vast majority buy these firearms to go have fun on the ranges. Criminals are the problem, judges let them off easy, the ministry lets them out early, just look at Muzzo, drunk, kills 4 and out on day parole already.

Well it looks like even if I had one or were able to get one last minute I’d have to give it back within 2 years anyways...this is ridiculous, 1500 models banned

my understanding is that the ban is immediate....don't believe any sales will go forward....these addition types of firearms which we don't know all of them will have to be gone within 2 years...how they will know is something I don't know....I'm sure handguns will be next and they do know where all the legal ones are...not going to help in my opinion....

You are the problem and not the solution, keep driving with your blinders on.
Food for thought:
Suspended driver, prohibited from driving, still drives - Illegal Purchased controlled drug, coke? - Illegal never stopped people from using or selling. Had too many drinks and got behind the wheel? - Illegal happens everyday.
Point of the matter is banning a car because its driver committed a crime, wont curb drunk driving. Banning a drug wont mean people who choose to use them wont still buy them.
Heres some food for thought for you:
Own an AR platform, restricted, for sport shooting at an accredited range? - You just became a criminal today. Own an AR platform, non-restricted, for hunting? - You just became a criminal today. Want to take your Norinco M14 out in the woods to target shoot? - Illegal as of today.
Just remember this is the tip, let the Government win this battle and what's next.. What happens when someone uses one of your beloved 870's in a shooting spree, are the 1000's of them next to ban? You duck guys running a Beretta, Benelli, ATA, Browning, Remington in a semi configuration, how long until you're forced to hand those in at a fraction of the cost you paid? Don't be fooled by what's happening around you. If you think it doesn't effect you because you only run Grandpas old deer rifle think again.
It's not fear motivation, this is just phase one. Stand up for your right and privilege. I didn't pay to take my firearms licence, renewal fees, parts, ammunition, range fees, guns etc.. To have them taken because of one persons actions whom of which had a weapons prohibition.
Take a stand guys, it's easier to prevent than to reverse anything.

Cops sometimes face undeserved hatred and vilification from the public they’re sworn to protect and serve. Sometimes, though, something happens that leaves other officers shaking their heads, like when a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer accidentally lost a grenade launcher on Monday.

OFAH posted a response....if interested.....not sure what can be done but were definitely heading towards a total firearm free country for the average hunter and shooter....what will we be looking at in 10 years???? very sad indeed.....

You bet it's the Tip of the iceberg. Just wait until JT passes his red flagging deal. It could be as simple as ratting a bogus complaint. Several years ago my youngest son being a dumb a## teenager got into a exchange of words over a guy failing to use a turn signal and nearly causing an accident, he simply pointed his finger at the other driver with a verbal exchange of words. 25 minutes later he was swarmed by OPP tactical and taken down at gunpoint. The complainant that failed to signal and nearly caused an accident, was an off duty Military Cop and reported him as pointing a gun at him. Good Luck to all the legal gun owners, it won't be long before all you will have is "remember when memories"
