Looks like a pretty good setup to me. Once the bear is comfortable there you should start to get daylight pictures. As for the bugs we use bug jackets and therma-cell. We also built a box blind with screens.
In a perfect world you get your turkey and bear before the bugs come out!
My buddy had a popup set up like that. He baited then walked over and sat in the hide making sure all was good. He thinks some juice or grease was on him or his boots as the bear came knocking (when he was gone) no more popup tore it to shreds. Good luck I'm looking forward to reading your outcome.
Yep every pop up i have ever left unattended on a bear bait has been shredded. Only took me two pop ups to learn that lesson. Hunting from the ground i now use natural cover combined with a bit of brushing in if needed.

You don't mention if you're hunting with a bow or gun. If a bow/crossbow, I'd be in a tree stand. They don't always run away from you should you miss Lol
I would bait only when you're hunting. Take it away when you leave. The smell of food will linger to keep him interested. He'll learn to hit that spot during the day when you put food out.
Always make sure you take a boar and not a nursing sow by burying your cache a bit so it has to dig to get the food thereby exposing if she is a nursing sow.

I hear you guys, I was already looking at getting a summit climber to bring back there. But I have really been considering just taking down the ground blind and brushing myself in and using some camo burlap to cover the rest. I also believe that blind might be spooking them from coming in during the day as it's just sitting 25 yards away from the bait Barrel.

I'm trying not to jinx myself, but I'm hoping to post a bear down pic before the season closes.

Yes I totally forgot to say what I was going to be taking the bear with. Now here's my conundrum, last year I bought a excalibur crossbow for the deer season and got pretty proficient within 30 yards on my target.
I recently bought a shotgun at the beginning of March before all the craziness started to happen, and then all the gun ranges shut down so I haven't really sighted it in as well as I would want to right now I'm shooting 6 in high at 30 yards using the brass bead and rifled slugs.
So if I can get more Trigger Time with my shotgun I'll be using my shotgun, but I suspect I'll be using my crossbow for accuracy reasons.
As far as baiting right now what I'm trying to do is I'm going up on Saturdays and baiting, seeing if I can get a routine going with the Bears. Hoping to make a routine where the couple days after I've baited they're coming and eating, giving me sunday and monday to hunt.
I should mention I have mondays off where I work so I get 3 days a week to figure my hunts out.

I think most big bears circle a bait to wind it before coming in to feed. If they have not had much contact with humans they will come in to feed before dark as big bears don''t fear anything in the bush except a pack of hungry wolves. Hang a sweaty t-shirt near your blind so the bear will get used to your scent. I think the big ones know you are there they just don't care
