Hello everyone. First post on here for me. Bought a pedal kayak and am set up for lake trout fishing. I'm hoping to find out where other kayakers are putting in near Barrie/Oro without spending a fortune on parking. I don't mind paying a few bucks to park but can't afford the new $50 fees for downtown barrie. Thanks

Kayak launch for Barrie is at Heritage park located bottom of Bayfield St. Parking free on weekends but long way to lake trout out in main bowl of Simcoe. I think I would want to launch Big Bay Point or out of Oro which I'm not too familiar with. Was out on Tues for 6 hrs downrigging and jigging with no luck. Marking all kinds of fish in 80-115 fow but just haven't figured it out how to entice them. So launch is at Hooters parking lot which I think is payed parking but parking lot in front of public washrooms on waterfront is free Saturday & Sunday. Good Luck & be safe...lots of boat traffic coming out of Barrie Marina

Launching kayaks on Simcoe is a pain. The residents think and behave like they own Simcoe, people with no residency access to the lake are not welcome. That is my felling from fishing Simcoe in last 15 years from my kayak. As soon you try to launch an old fart pop-up and ask you were are you from? I would like to think that this behavior is mainly in Georgina region, but I have doubts.

Thanks to you both. I may have found a good spot that won't cost anything and is legal. Downtown barrie is too busy and too far from the fish for me. As for the miserable locals, I tend to ignore them. They can't be any worse than the ones in Tiny.

good for you, i did a similar search last week and could find not any. ramp at 2nd line is a good place but it is for residents only. i found no other ramps in the area but i did caused residents to curiously look at me while riding my motorcycle around, at slow speeds
didn't walk / drive the south side of the stretch yet.
