Made it out for a few mornings in the yak. Tried with no success for some Lakers, but after a few hours of morning Laker fishing I would go shallow and get into some smallies. Made it to a few lakes I rarely visit and spent a chunk of my time exploring and trolling.

Very nice smallie.

So far this open-watering season and on my yak, I have caught lots of Simcoe lakers and a few whitefish, too, but have yet to catch a bass! Fished east side of Cook's Bay twice for bass, but skunked both times miserably :-)

Exploring new lakes from a yak is my thing for sure. Nice views!

Just looked at your post at work on lunch. Damn I'm envious.
Sounds like a great time.

this is very nice. exploring small empty lakes is the best part of kayak fishing.

my problem is usually that i don't know how to get to them i keep combing google maps but it looks like all the small lakes are fully private, no access.
i live in toronto so usually i kinda limit my search to a 2h driving distance or so.

how do you find them?

Thanks.

We have a cabin up north and have found a few spots over the years just by driving around a lake, looking for access spots.
