picked last of rhubarb for the year today, so tried something new. I'm adding rhubarb to a tried and proven strawberry sauce recipe.
1 lb strawberries
1/2 lb rhubarb
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
slice strawberries in have for small, 3rds for large and quarters for really large. Rhubarb into 3/8 inch pieces.
mix all in sauce pan put on heat to boil, medium heat. once boiling turn down to simmer for 28 minutes. Take off stove and let cool. it will thicken as it cools and again once in fridge.
This I hope goes good on ice cream or toast.
Ok, so i have now tried it on ice cream. Gives it a sweet and tart taste. Going to be hard on my girlish figure, oh wait, that happened years ago.
