Hey Everyone!

My Kayak cart doesn't fit my new Kayak as the scupper holes are much narrower than the cart will adjust to. So I was wondering what people are using to transport their heavy fishing kayaks?

I know I can find another Scupper cart that will fit but I have seen damage inside the scupper hole caused by the cart on my last kayak and was hoping to avoid this from happening on my new YAK.

I bought a cart at crappy tire but my kayak wouldn't sit well since the cart is flat and the keel isn't.

I know some of you are pretty handy so I would love to see some DIY rigs.

I have a custom made scupper cart frame courtesy of thrillhouse and some iron gas pipe with 1/2" round stock for an axle and some princess auto foam filled wheels. Water pipe insulation where the hull sits and a few laps of tape to protect the uprights going thru the scupper holes. Works great for transport but is a bit large to keep on board with me once I launch and some launches are a good distance from the truck. I have a smaller cart from can tire that will fit in the rear well but doesn't handle terrain as well. It's good when you have paved path from truck to launch like bbp or Vic harbour. if

Here is the original one thrillhouse made for himself before he built mine. I got lucky and found some larger diameter wheels on sale when I went for mine which worked out great

I belive those wheels are 12" diameter. The camera lens makes them seem kinda small.

I would strongly recommend C-Tug cart. It fits any of my yaks, works fantastic.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Good job on the DIY!

I am working on a cart right now and will post some picks when it is complete.

Here is the finished cart. I had a buddy of mine modify my Scupper cart to a bumper cart that would work better with the hull design of my new kayak.

Still getting used to it, I added a strap to keep they kayak on in rough terrain.

Just a FYI
If you make a scupper style DO NOT overload your kayak or leave it on the cart for long peroids of time. The stress on the edges of the scupper can cause the hull to crack. You wont notice untill it is too late and you are sinking far away from the launch.

Google it first. Here is a vid of a really lucky (cause he is alive) guy that this happened to.

Stick with a cradle style diy or C-tug
