Where do you get your herring from?

Thanks

If i get lucky, there's lakes where i can catch them if i happen upon a school of them.

hey how far off the bottom are you fishing the herring. I usuallly put them quite close to the bottom but never have much luck on big dead bait for lakers.

ive seen videos of uncut angling laying them right on bottom, and watching a big laker come in and check it out several times before inhaling it. Me, I was getting pike last year in 25 fow with my herring 10 up from bottom, so, I tried that for the laker....8 or 10 up from bottom in about 58 feet

I’ve had luck with large Lakers with a large minnow set right under the ice 2-3ft under. Over 50-60fow. But everyone has their own experience.

Use gorge hooks for the herring?
