Caught my PB smallest laker ever. Natural laker. No stockies here. It was a very slow day for us, we should have moved after the first hour, but it was too cold and the hut was too comfy.

I clearly need to find a spot away from the juvenile trout. Haven’t had any big ones yet. All fish released promptly as it was bitter out there. Sitting on 3” black 4” white ice.

This lake has never been stocked. The lake is extremely fertile for Whitefish so the Lakers have a lot food, and there are lots of prime spawning grounds, the spot I’ve been fishing usually produces bigger fish towards March to beginning of April before ice out. My bet is I was too shallow for this part of the ice season. Constant baitfish or schools of fry on the bottom.
