I heard that it skimmed over with ice and got a dump of snow on it creating a dangerous situation . I’m only passing on what I heard but the west side and narrows areas are not frozen. Be careful!

Can anyone update the ice conditions on Lake of Bays ? Thanks everyone 🐟🤠🐟🤠
It will be snow on top, slush, water, then less ice than lake simcoe which is still really sketchy. One year on lob I drilled a hole and water kept coming up so much I had to grab my stuff and get away. Too much snow weight on top. A week later I was drilling holes and the water in the middle of two ice layers was running back down into the lake. It was brutal drilling and really was a candidate for the gas augers I’ve learned to hate, or the ion would have have handled it.

Thanks for thinking what it will be like. Sounds like u have experience there. But I was looking to see if anyone has been there recently for some concrete info on the ice conditions right now. Has to be more then Simcoe as there is zero there lol lol. Good luck everyone 🤠

I've been going up for the last 3 weekends, the smaller shallow bays have been frozen for 6 weeks, but the main lake skimmed over 2 weekends ago. last weekend there were snowmobile tracks running the bridge in Dorset. also saw a few permanent huts on the south end east of Baysville about 500 ft from the shore. ice ranges from 10" - 2" . Ive been fishing up there for 5 weeks but staying close to shore in about 20-25 fow. (and still catching lake trout)

Very strange ice on lake of bays this year. Lots of slush, 6-10” in some bays 3-5” on bigger parts as of last weekend. Sleds going everywhere, even spots that had no ice couple weeks ago.

Thanks for your sarcasm I’ll keep what I thought was helpful info to myself next time. Also simcoe had 3-6” at the time, not great but not zero. Also, if you noticed, my ‘prediction’ of how it would be is based on facts and people I know that live in the area and experience. Notice how the actual reports said the same thing. Maybe I should have simplified it. Lake of bays deeper than simcoe, over 200ft in places. Thin ice with lots of snow on top bad. That’s why I haven’t wasted my time going there yet, because I know it isn’t great, what are you expecting? Someone to say the snow all melted then it refroze into a foot of clear ice overnight?
