Oops, got a cold foot!, Careless with the Auger

I’m sure there are a few of us out there over the years who have been slightly careless with an auger blade and split a perfectly good pair of boots. This happened to me on Wednesday... standing in 5” slush i suddenly noticed a cold sensation in my boot... yup, must have accidentally kicked the auger. I’m looking at patching it, combination of rubber cement and a rubber patch.

Anyone have any good ideas for a quick fix? JBweld? Tape? Of course it had to happen in slush season right before I need to walk a couple Kms out. I’m sure someone has a solution!

Marine Goop from Canadian tire

Put a small amount in the cut, let dry then add a few thin coats over top.
Waterproof and stays flexible.

If liner comes out do both sides..perhaps bicycle tire patch kit..

Those are things that can be fixed or replaced happened to myself years ago best is wader glue or goop needs to be flexible how was the ice conditions thanks Frank

Happened to me last year but didnt go all the way through. Just a decent gash right in the middle where the boot foot bends.

Not getting wet but Im sure it'll open up soon enough if not addressed.

I was thinking maybe glue on a bicycle patch as mentioned above however afraid it might crack with the cold.

Since Marine Goop stays flexible,, that might be a better way to fix (inside and outside)

Cyanoacrylate instant adhesive is generally your best bet for rubber bonding
Goriila glue is made up of this adhesive

Clean with Acetone first you tube says.

I have cut more things than I can mention, I feel for you brother

Highly variable. 3-6” and a pile of slush. Snowmobile trails are not staked yet and nobody running on the open parts of the big lakes. Smaller lakes anywhere from 5-10” or more.

I’ve gooped it and will put some tape over it in the morning before I go. That goop is handy stuff for a quick fix despite the 24-72hr cure time! We will see how it works. Ill try the gorilla glue and try to create layers inside and out when I have time. Thanks for the advice everyone.

X2 shoe goo is great. Just fixed a pair of baffins better than new.

Seems pretty good, well adhered to the boot, and flexible, hopefully maintains those quality in -30 lol.

Maybe put a plastic bag on your foot just incase.

Worked like a charm. Stood in slush no issues.

OK, Nick---enough already about the boots.Let's see some porn!! (The first time I read your post I thought you cut your boot while the auger was running!! Glad that was not the case. My Mora can walk on glare ice and prob with light snow.)
