Smolt Trout Group: Members Posts: 185 Member No.: 18630 Joined: October 18, 2020	I would recommend lures! Lol. Jigs with any gulp products have worked as good or better than live bait for me, for all fish species.

Jigging the old EGB spoon has worked well for me , never tried tipping it but could work

And Jow, it might be worth it to double check the regulations. Most places that have an open ice season for brookies with bait restrictions are - live fish may not be used as bait or possessed for use as bait. Under that regulation dead bait is permitted - and it works.
