Good evening boys and girls. Heading up tomorrow and was wondering over the years what lake has the big ones. Good eaters around 2-5 pounds. Ross vs Joe

Used to find Joe only produced fish too small to be worth keeping, was lucky to get fish over 1 lb. But they used to be so plentiful. Now I find you either start catching them right away or get nothing. I don’t drive far anymore for small Lakers you can only keep 2 of. But to each their own, there’s always the chance of hooking a 15 pounder for fun too.

Never fished for size up there.
Biggest on joe was 8lb. Rosseau 6 lb. I go for scenery, quiet and good eating fish. Some days you get #’s. Some days it’s a grind. But I love it up there. And I hope those that fish there treat the access and lakes with respect. Good luck to those going for opener tomorrow. Be safe. I imagine it’s a slushy mess on joe.

Ditto!! It's a bit amusing to hear about the battles for space on Simcoe----guys geeting way to close etc.

That's the same every year. I got a snowmobile this year to try to get away from that but with this mild weather we're almost stuck on Kempenfelt.

Going up this weekend.
It'll be nice just to get out and hopefully see some fish.

If people didn’t gather around someone that just caught a fish or assume the fish are only where the huts are there would be lots of space even on simcoe, it’s a giant lake and the fish are always moving!

Imagine how quiet it would be if people stopped naming the lakes with pictures of fish!
