Got out again yesterday to search for some Pike.

Seems to be lost of fish & all sorts of species being caught. Pike is closed in all FMZ except for Zone 17. This time of year is a great time to target Pike in Zone 17, but remember they still might be spawning so it is key to get them unhooked, snap a quick pic and get them safely back in the water. With the water being so cold still (41F) they usually revive quick if they have put up a big fight.

Here are a few photos from yesterday.

Lost of fish being marked. Like Rainbows.

Nice pike, i've tried a few times this year at that spot with no luck. Had some follows but no strikes. Not gonna give up though.

It's spawning time for pike now , i.e. the pike is either just spawned or preparing for spawning so the bite is tough at this particular time.

Also maybe try to fish in the pm when the water temps are the highest.

If you're having follows but no strikes try to slow way down your retrieve and try twitching suspending jerkbait with long pauses.

Good luck!

Using a 4 to 5 in fluke un-weighted and treating it like a jerk bait is the most effect method to get spawning Pike or reluctant Pike this time of year. Use bright colours (White, Pink, Blue, Silver). Something that reflects or absorbs the sun.

Tried that method today. Had a strike from a nice sized pike but couldn't hookup. Oh well, getting closer I guess

Still a great day to get out
