Sturgeon Lake - Oct 8/21, Bass and mini muskie mania

Hit up Sturgeon again today. Hoping to get a few more big bass while the weather is still nice.

I think I’ve figured out the secret to catching muskie though. Go out with the intention of catching something else and they will throw themselves into your boat.

It was mini muskie mania this morning through about 12:30pm. I went 4 for 5 today - all 5 hit within about 3 hours. I never saw the one that got away, but it was pulling like it was larger than the others I caught. I’ll post the pics below - only 3 pics as I got the first one unhooked and he flipped out of the net before I could get a pic.

I had a hard time locating bass, but still managed 6. Not sure if the problem was I wasn’t in the right locations or if they were avoiding the muskie. My best on the day is pictured below.

Nice fish and pictures. My friend has been catching muskie a lot in the past two weeks on sturgeon. He is just loving all the action out there.

All were caught on bass baits and gear.

Of the five hits:
One on a chatterbait, two on small swim baits and two on a rage menace.
