been having tough time for walleye last month and a half bass is on and off but this weekend past was terrible 2 small smallies each day about 1lb each on rice lake any tips would be great not a live bait person though been throwing jigs and some cranks arm is ready to fall off could be bad karma on boat or telling me its time to put away for season. good luck to all for the last kicks at the can then early freeze up get the huts ready.

Don't despair as September and early October were very warm and the fall declining water temperature pattern has not yet been established as the water in most lakes is still around 16-18C, so the best fishing of the year is still to come.

Sep 26 we were hammering walleyes on shallow and medium diving jerks in the weedbeds but in the past few trips in the lakes with mixed pike and walleye populations all I was getting was pretty much pike....

Sorry for offtopic, All I am saying is that walleye fishing is on/off and is tough right now., so happy that Waltersmasher was able to dial them in

PS. Took a friend with his sons fishing for pike (who never fished for pike before) and each got their first one but daddy's first ever pike was a little monster.

Beginner's luck after all does exist

All fish was caught on top waters, shallow diving jerks and spinners (the big girl) And no single walleye was caught on that trip although I think I lost one at sunset....

I haven’t had any luck either.
Fished the north end of Cameron and the two of us boated 10 yearling pike, 12-14”. A few smallies but nothing of any size. Then had something cut my line (musky maybe) and my buddy raised a musky to the side of the boat but it wouldn’t bite.

Dont feel bad i have not had much luck on Balsam , with walleye recently even with minnows. Some bass October 1st on 18” and my Balsam PB 22”smallie. A 8” walleye last Friday some small bass and a lot of perch. Running out of time for me as trailer park is closing and soon time to bring boat home.

I was not out fishing from beginning of june until sept. I started fishing again sept. 5th and have been out 9 times since that day. Mostly by myself but a few friends as well. One friend has done well with white jig white twister tails. Another friend has done very well with real worms in deeper water on a white jig head. Here is a picture of what I have been using to catch walleye the last nine outings. I fished 110 hours and caught 76 walleye, only kept 15 of them. Also caught some crappie and bass and little fish as well. I got VERY LUCKY fishing in sept and oct. Point is these baits work so I took a picture of what I was using from say 4pm until 4am every time I was out. I guarantee if you get down in the weeds you will catch walleye. I hate fishing in thick weeds but during the day that is where the walleye hide. That is why I fish mostly after dinner and through the night. I hope the picture is of some help.

Here is picture. Jerk baits work very well in the weeds as well, like fellow member JB uses.

YES I KNOW. There is so many good spots on Balsam and Sturgeon to go. I will try to get there to say hello, someday. I will be up in a week or so but everyday is so busy and night. This is the hardest for me to get sleep in Oct. and NOV. because the fish are hungry from 11am until the next sunrise. That only leaves 4 hours for sleep. Unless I wimp out and go home earlier. I will send you PM when I get there. Very nice pictures of you and your friends fish.
