COLD That is the report. Caught some baby walleye and only a few. I guess the big walleye took the night off. Here is last nights trophy fish.

Got a nice surprise big small mouth bass around 2am. Then a few smaller small mouth. Kept the big one let the others go. Eating the small mouth now for lunch. I was using a slip bobber and plastic baits. Could not use lures I was only in 2 feet of water. I found this spot where the trees hang over a stretch of shore line. So I floated my bait down with the wind and set the hook when the walleye or small mouth hit it. It was very different way to catch fish but something I never tried before. It was like fishing in a tunnel.

Oh. I am sorry to here that Lionel. I got very lucky to get that one. All I saw for the most part was baby fish. I started my afternoon on sturgeon with a few friends. There was only three bass caught and one kept, and a few very large perch. Went to the trees in balsam later in the evening because all we caught after dark on sturgeon was three baby walleye. The quick cool down might have slowed the fish down until I would say tomorrow, and then they should be hungry again.

I agree about them getting settled by tomorrow. I won't be out again until at least Thursday or Friday. can't drive for at least 48 hours.

I was on Balsam today to pull the boat out and do some fishing before heading home. The small mouth bite was on fire we caught 9 smallies biggest 4lbs most were 3 lbs no small ones. They were schooling and looked like footballs. We got one bonus pike just shy of 6 lbs and saw a huge Muskie at the start of our day. The weather was amazing, great way to end the season.

WOW that is good luck for your last day on the boat. My big small mouth in the picture was only 3.8 pounds the other four were smaller. Three baby walleye on sturgeon, and a few baby walleye on balsam. I wonder why I caught small mouth last night and into early morning, and you caught small mouth today. Why did they not cooperate for Lionel today, he is an exceptional small mouth hunter. Do you eat bass or just catch and release.

We did keep a few. I enjoy eating bass depending on where they are caught ,some tend to be very wormy or have lots of parasites balsam bass are very clean. They were all caught on weed rock transition, nothing seem to worm nut minnows were the trick. All fish cleaned were stuffed with crayfish.

Nice going , CM!
I like how you always observe the environment and conditions and adjust your presentation and fishing tactics.

That's an awesome closure of the season! Congrats!
Love the fight the smallies put on a light and medium tackle. Always fun to catch them.

I am approaching my busiest time of fishing season: friends with kids want to take them perch fishing on Simcoe so will go a few times, but my plans are set on Kawartha walleyes including night fishing, Lake Couch bass and pike, Lake Ontario pike and more.
I wish I have more time for fishing.
