Now that's what I call a successful day on the water today. Found and retrieved the two rigs, plus landed some very nice fish as well. Congrats to you and your friend, and kudos to the buddy that let you use the camera!!
Thanks, Lionel. I was actually prepared to loose my tackle but I wanted to do it for my friend as he lost a more expensive combo and he felt bad about the whole incident, so it's all ended up for good, but i learned my lesson.

Glad you got your gear back and had not bad fishing after that! Great story and recovery!
I got a couple of nice perch, a small walleye and a 25" pike. Nothing on cranks and jerkbaits. Drop shotting minnows saved the day. Thinking maybe I should ask somebody to teach me how to use jerkbaits...

Thank you guys . We were lucky that the water was fairly shallow and clear there and no dense weeds on bottom otherwise we would not be able to recover the rods .

That's awesome.. thanks for sharing
Nice catch too!
A year ago I was trolling in 110 ft of water with some magnum dipsies. We were probably about 10 feet off the bottom. I decided to turn, but the waves made a turn a bit too sharp and we started dragging bottom. Suddenly one rod bent right over; but it certainly wasn't a fish, and it certainly wasn't ground... I was dragging... something.
Long story short, I snagged a $400 fishing rod and reel combo from 110 ft of water and pulled it up. I use it today and it's caught some of my largest lake trout The bearings are a little worse for wear compared to a new reel, but it works just fine and is still smooth.

Wow, that was quite a catch you had.
Lots of goodies scattered around on the bottom of lake Simcoe. Just stay away from snagging sunken trucks
If your bearings are wearing out you can order the replacement ones online.
Boca bearings have good quality bearings for sale.

I snagged a patio table umbrella a few years ago that must have blown off someones dock. It was quite heavy and covered in green algae. It must have been down there a long time. My dad snagged a fishing pole when we were fishing in Meaford when I was a child. It still worked so he kept it.

You can find lots of sunken huts down there too! Be careful in the spring. I've coasted past a hut under power once only in 8 feet of water, so it was just barely submerged under the water.. that was scary.
I've thought about getting the bearings replaced, but it was never annoying enough to pull the trigger. Even with degraded bearings, the reel is still smoother than my other reels because it was a premium reel. Now I started replacing all my reels with the model I fished up
If you ever watched my double-header video on my YT channel, the reel I'm fighting the 20 lbs lake trout on is the reel I fished off the bottom
