Looking to target muskie Saturday and Sunday. I have fished balsam, and sturgeon last year for the first time and seen some caught previously on lower buckhorn years ago. Looking to plan a trip this weekend any recommendations for a muskie or even a few walleye ? Haven’t been able to get out much this year

If I was given a choice of one Kawartha Lake for Muskie it would be Pigeon. I am not a big Muskie fisherman so take it with a grain of salt. Curious what the more serious Muskie fisherman think it's just my opinion.

Balsam is my favourite but Sturgeon is just as good. Well you picked the perfect weekend to catch muskie. If the weather holds Sturgeon will have SW wind and you will have waves from Lindsay area to Fenelon area. Cold in the mornings but getting up to 10 and 12 degrees. If you want to stay out of the main wind just start at the south west side across from snug harbour...head north towards Fenelon falls. Casting or trolling try keeping the 10 feet or deeper water just on your right and the 8 to 10 water on your left as you head north. I like to think of a line that we follow in the water. That line just so happens to be the weed line. My friends are on Sturgeon now and will be fishing this area for the next four days for muskie walleye and bass. I might be up there as well. If I can change some previous commitments.

Just follow the weeds south to north and back again. A chart like this will be helpful. I put this post up for a few people that asked the same question about muskie. It is not exact location but a third of the lake area to fish where I guarantee muskie. Also if this area is too calm just put the boat in the waves which should be beside you already.

I know I should never guarantee fish but friday, saturday, sunday and monday and maybe as far as tuesday, should be great fishing for muskie, walleye and bass on sturgeon. Also the water level is about two inches higher than it is normally this time of year. And the fish will not be on the bottom so just try and bump the weeds that are left, the fish should be cruising for food. There is still weeds, I just got off the phone with a friend. I am sure pigeon is good as well but I only fish balsam and sturgeon. A friend just PM me about balsam but that lake is going to have big waves this weekend, so it will be a bit weird out there. Good luck and stay safe where ever you decide to fish.

A late start but Got out with the wife for the afternoon today, a bit breezy at times but a beautiful day none the less. Glad I brought the buddy heater as it got a bit chilly in the late afternoon but glad to get out. Managed to get a mid thirties ski to bite in about 8 ft on a wind blown bank.
