OK the moment of truth arrived and I launched the kayak into a local lake near me and the bad news is that I have to rework weight distribution to offset the trolling motor as it is heavier then the lithium batteries. The nose was down further than I would like. I was afraid that might be the case and now know it is. Motor 80 lbs and the batteries only 46 lbs. I will make a battery rack on the back deck and test again. If it is still not balanced I will move the seat back. Meanwhile going to fish in the tinny......thats going in the water tomorrow.
PS April 2024 I did not build the back battery rack but opted to put my seat on rails to slide back and forth to distribute weight. That also raised me higher and gave me some tackle storage under the seat.

longfish, haven't heard anything in long time, how the rework go?
I haven’t had much time to work on it….seat is off and sitting on 2x4,s….measuring for the structure I have to build under it….seat will be raised a few inches and on slides to adjust weight distribution with my body depending on how I load , depending on what I am fishing for.
My Personal life had a daughters wedding….now over…..and my union stuff is heavy this year, now that covid is over.
Right now fishing in my tinny in Georgian Bay…..today I started to fabricated a bow plate for the bow of the tinny for the Ulterra to mount to. Hope to have that done by the weekend.

Thank you for sharing. Great electrical job. Since you mentioned Georgian bay are you close to Christian Island? I am planning to fish there from my kayak.

I am in Waubaushene but plan on loading it into my F150 to save water time. Christian is one of my planned destinations when I get the weight issue sorted out.

Hi Arnie,
Thank you for your reply. What will be a good spot to launch a kayak to troll for silver close to Christian island? I do not have a trailer, just a car, I carry my kayak inside the a Dodge Caravan. I just need to park the car and access to the water.

Well I know a lot of you have been peeking in to this thread to see if I have finished the kayak. I have been so very busy since the end of covid. Today I spent some time on it and am building an aluminum frame for the seat to sit on. The frame is built so that the seat has slotted rails to allow it to slide back so I can use my body to distribute the weight better and get the nose of the kayak at a 15 degrees list. Posting four pics of what has been done so far, about of a third of the way done. In pic 1 I strapped the rails to the lift table, it is in the slots and will slide on carriage bolts effortlessly. This is from the front.
