Just wondering how many of you out there make your own lures and have you had success with them? This was my first shot at it, no idea what kind of action it will have but it was fun making it.

Your lure looks great...love the paint job. I can see how that would be fun.

I tied up some hooks with moose hair and black squirrel hair to put on the mepps musky killer that threw a hook. I got the moose this fall so it would be cool to catch a musky on that hook.

Thanks Fishnhunt. I'm looking forward to water testing it. I hope your hook replacement on the musky killer works. Sounds like it will.

Many years ago I bought spinner components from a place in Oregon. You could assemble the components to mimic a Mepps spinner for about one quarter of retail price. I used them on steelhead and brook trout....worked great.

I also bought spoon building components from a place near Hepworth a few years ago and they worked well on steelhead. I can’t remember the name but they advertised in Ontario Out Of Doors for years.

A finished spoon ended up costing around a buck and a quarter and only took about a minute to assemble.

I think they also had lure bodies. I’ll try to google it and see if I can come up with a name and contact.

Tight lines.

Here’s a couple pics.

My uncle makes some very similar except for the face of the lure, he likes them to dive... He also drills a hole the long way on the lure and puts a nail in it for weight..

Hey Dave. Just experimenting right now with carving body types for top water. I am working on a diving bait that I will put some weight in it to get it to sink.
