These guys visit fairly regularly.

Don't know why it is called "Red Bellied"--IMO, should have been called "Red Caped".

wonder why that name. Well since we are posting pictures of woodpeckers here is a flicker that was distracting me while deer hunting, I'm surprised I didn't get a big buck in the back ground as it ran across field just as I was taking the picture.

Nice visitor Ralph. I must agree with you on its name. Just a dusting of red on it’s belly but a lot on it’s head and neck.

Hey Steve, suprised the Flicker was still around. They’re a gorgeous bird.

Cheers….

only about 5 feet away from him lousy phone camera picture . They are around a lot , some of the trees look like they have been shredded while still standing.

its a product called bark butter basically a suet with some additives laced with hot peppers. birds cant taste they eat it up and the squirrels come taste it and leave they have a sense of taste unlike birds. That is whats on the post the other thing is basically the same suet with a seed mixture throughout also laced with some kind of hot sauce.Sometimes you get a brave squirrel come for a snack. Fun to watch them leave in a hurry.
