Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a used panoptix transducer(PS22-TR), the first generation one that doesn't need the black box. I won't be able to test it in water, but I have my fishfinder(echomap chirp.) Is there a way to test/diagnose the transducer by just plugging it into my FF?

As long as you have a power supply for your unit should be able to go to panoptix on your finder screen and at least take a look that something is happening on your screen, I usually do a check with livescope like that before ice fishing.

So I tried out the panoptix but the head unit didn't have a menu to access the panoptix functionality. I know it's there because going to simulator will reveal the panoptix menu and all the possible functions for that head unit. Funny thing was that even in the system info menu it was able to detect and display the ps22 transducer connected to it. After an hour of troubleshooting decided to call it quits and I didn't buy the transducer(it works because the owner plugged it into their head unit and demonstrated functionality.)
Got home and looked at the version change log for my head unit. I was on v 4.20. My theory is that the reason the unit was able to detect the ps22 transducer was because Garmin added support for it in v4.20. I'm guessing v4.3 is where the magic happens and the panoptix menu will display on the home screen and I can finally join the panoptix cult. Updated the unit and will try again today.
Added support for the GT10HN-IF transducer. Added support for Panoptix PS22. Allow Flasher combinations with Traditional Sonar. Added Beamwidth values for more CHIRP GT/CV transducers. Changed A-Scope render to use the full width for all return strengths. Added Beamwidth value along side discrete frequency on Traditional and Flasher pages. Added the Bottom Diameter Coverage value on the flasher. Fixed calculation error in Bottom Diameter Coverage in A-Scope and Flasher. Fixed a potential Danger Area shading issue on the map. Various Bug Fixes and improvements.
