Hi all.

I am helping a friend set up a fishing business up on the Bay and am looking at some general information as to some of the best baits/lures/flasher combos that work up there as I will be supplying him with same

I know Lymans are a favourite there and I have that one covered

just need info on other stuff.

Not asking anyone to give away the farm, just basic stuff as I fish lake o, not Huron

if you wish you can pm me as well

thank you

My friend has been fishing the bay forever and his go to baits are Northern King spoons and Lyman's lures. He says even in the summer at a slower troll. I have not fished up there since childhood.

thanks.........I have at least 600 nk's so I guess that's a good thing

and if they hit those, then MS stingray and Moonshine should work as well

I've had good luck with my Luhr Jensen Shoehorn spoons, Freedom Herring Cut Baits and of course Lymans. Sometimes I run the Cut Baits behind a flasher, other times just plain. Seems to work both ways.

SDC.

Limited experience on the bay for myself as well, but with SDCaller at our annual Italy vs England... I had a double header on NK-28s... Chartreuse tape NK28 on bottom and Pink tape NK28 on cheater.. Salmon hit the cheater and Laker on the bottom spoon. Only landed one fish, --- the laker.. LOL

Been trolling the Bay since early 90's, mainly east side.

You cant go wrong with Moonshine, everyone i know runs them, both in the Mag and standard sizes, RV colors work very well.

Michigan Stinger is also good and the different sizes can be trolled at various speeds however they are hard to find, im sure if they can be stocked they will be a hot seller.

Hotfish, Krome Seeker, Silver Fox and Wackm Tackle are all great especially early season because they are flutter blanks and benefit from being trolled slow but they all shine all season when guys are running multiple lines and want to run meat. Typically meat is ran slower so these spoons are good on those days.

Recent companies like TNT and Firebrand are producing some very nice color combos and even though they have been on the scene for only a year they are producing a lot of fish for anglers on the Bay. Firebrand also makes offers stick baits.

The Gripper has been around for many years, they are a great GBay spoon as well.

I find Northern King and Dreamweaver are out of touch now with spoons. NK colors are not what they use to be and dreamweaver blanks and colors are not matching what our fish want, except for the 42nd spoon on a cloudy day.

Ive done well with Silver Streak but they are harder to find.

As for flashers I prefer a smaller profile in our clear water. Krome seeker makes a great paddle with many patterns, they are also releasing their own heads for meat and anchovies soon. I find Hotfish work well too even though they make a larger blank. Hotfish heads are the best, no tuning, perfect colors.

I run Meegs plugs, I know James knows what color patterns our fish want and I trust his patterns.

AC Shiners are a staple body bait in the Spring as are Daiwa Crystal Minnows.

Hope this helps.

Krawler thank you for a very detailed breakdown, much appreciated and I agree with your thoughts/observations on so many things

I was wondering about body baits, so you answered that

I agree with you on northern king and dreamer also

silver sreak is great, but yes, they troll at a different speed to be effective

glad to see that you include Moonshine.......I find they are great overal

for flashers and heads I have a large stock from multiple companies

lastly.....I have well over 3000 michigan stingers in all sizes and colors from scorpians which I still use in the spring to mag size later in the season.......can't go wron with stingray size either

If you need some get a hold of me and what sizes and colors, same with the e teck flasher

Krawler nailed it you can see his experience in his comments. For me I run flashers and anchovies and also run silver fox. I fish out of Owen sound. Krawler what are you out of ?

I'm just South of Cedar Point facing Christian Island. I'll fish anywhere around Christian, Hope and Beckwith but depending on wind and fish movement ill go towards the tomb or I often fish between Wasaga and Christian. Enjoy making runs to the Blue zone too especially early season (May/June). I loved anchovies until they became overpriced and harder to find.

Longshank if you think those lures are expensive definitely don’t look at the price of a 10 pack of anchovie
