Cross Island French river

Anyone ever fished/camped around Cross island (upper French river) and willing to share advice? I'm heading up in the end of May

Deep water right by Cross, have pulled a few pickereyes out of there.
Cross island is supposed to be haunted due to 12 missionaries getting
butchered there long ago. Natives avoid it like the plague.

Thanks Barracuda, I appreciate the reply....and yikes! as if there wasn't enough strange and scary noises at night up there already ....lol

Anytime, let me know if you camp on the island - interested to see what happens.
As far as gear goes a simple split shot and minnow on bottom always works and bottom bouncers with worm harnesses are my go to on the French - just be prepared for frequent snags.
