Got out on the sound with a buddy today.

Was on the water an hour before first light.
Trolled glow spoons and got a decent one fairly quickly as soon as first light broke.

We saw about 6/7 other fish hooked by other boats all day until 1:00pm when we left. It was busy with boats. Most people at the dock were talking total skunk with not even a tap.

After hearing how bad everyone did I honestly felt quite lucky and good to have gotten at least one fish.

Shared the fish with my buddy so we could each have a meal.

Nice fish!

Thank you for the report.

I have never tried fishing for salmon or trout there, but think about it from time to time. Saw a recent (but seems like few days old) video on youtube where a lot were caught. Looks like conditions and bite may change quickly.
Reports like this would help to make a decision to go on a 2.5h trip and try my luck.

Hope I can help a bit.

I have been planning for many years to do the spring in Owen Sound. I also held off as I have to trailer 2 hours.

What I have learned from friends who have done it for years and years is the Salmon show up to feed for a week or so. When they show up the bite is on fire. Issue is they can leave as fast as they show up. I know someone who fished Friday up there and limited out. Saturday everyone was just disappointed as consensus was the fish left.

Also in my opinion the tactics that work in Lake O work perfectly well in Owen Sound.

Thank you, Disco, for the additional info.

My case is more hopeless. I have never fished lake O, have a 12' light boat, no downrigger

In the video I saw few fish were caught simply jigging. That way may work for even shorter period of time. Hopefully one day I know those few days and winds are low.
