Todays turkey hunt, Great hunt

Todays turkey hunt started with my son and I listening for a gobble. We haven’t hunted together much this season as we were often taking other people out. He asked if we could go out “just the two of us”so I quickly agreed. As day broke we heard birds gobbling but had a hard time getting a direction on them. We finally setup in a likely spot and started calling.

We heard a distant bird gobbling at our calls and steadily getting closer. It finally circled completely around us at 60 yards and was moving away. My son and I mimicked two hens arguing and the Tom triple gobbled and came back into 25 yards. I took the shot and filled our last tag of the season. It was my favourite hunt of the season. He is becoming a great caller and turkey hunter. Here’s a couple pics.

Love the single shot shotty my old go to is my old cooey 840 . Congrats on the bird and congratulations on the fathers son hunt.

That single shot is a Cooey 16 gauge I bought when I was 15. It has sat in the cabinet for a long time and my son decided he wanted to shoot a turkey with it this year and he did on opening day.
