I'll be up in that area on the September long weekend at buddy's cottage. Was thinking of taking the boat with me and fishing that area. Can someone point me to a boat launch I should be using? Fishing pointers would be welcomed and appreciated since it'll be my first time there. Thanks

There is a free goverment boat launch at the Big Chute marina. Parking across the road. It can get busy on the weekends but worth a look. Lots of pike, bass and a few walleye around there.

We were deeply disappointed, a few years ago, when the free boat ramp at the marine railway was closed off with large concrete barriers. In a phone call with the municipality that summer, I was assured that it was not because of pressure from the private marina across the road. This may have been true then and now. The only remaining option is the Big Chute Marina, but you can still park for free thanks to Parks Canada. Free-use boat ramps are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Perhaps there should be an entire category on this site listing the remaining ones.
