don't think I've ever seen the board so quiet.

Is no one fishing?

Just one man’s opinion but I believe that the slot size of over 18 inches for the past few years with a limited limit of 2 fish has paid off big time for the lake Nipissing fishery. There a lot of fish being caught in the 19-24 inch range which of course now are the ones to put back. Our breeding stock for this spring is going to be fantastic which in turn will increase the amount of pickerel. If we hold on to this slot for the next few years I believe we will see a significant rebound of pickerel.
As grumpa I believe it was said you have to wade through the big ones to get a slot size fish.

Well I used to come up to Nipissing 2 or 3 times in the spring and summer, but with the price of gas I have been staying home and trying to fish local. As a local are you seeing less boats out there fishing? On a side note the local fishing here sucks and trolling around catching nothing is costing gas anyway. LOL

Still quite a few fishermen at our end but there is an overall decrease in boat traffic. I think our economy has a lot to do with that. Mortgage rates have increased for a lot of families some as much as 1 k a month so they have to cut back on spending.

What species of fish are you wanting to catch. And what area do you live. Maybe a member could be of some assistance.

I spent a week on West Arm in the beginning of July.
Fished a bit almost every day. Caught 20 with 2 in the slot, 2 above and the rest below.
I think I met Dockboy there

This is the best of the trip, 54 cm.

I live near Callander Bay and found the Bay and nip quite. I also checked out some surrounding lakes within 30 minutes drive. Fishing was good in all lakes and the slot size and amount to keep are different. Here is some fish porn for those who miss it.

If you are from down south, come on up and check out the many surrounding lakes within minutes of North Bay.

Hope to see you on the water.

Cheers

Steve
