I am not asking for medical advice from anyone. I am seeing the doctor again today, he wants to see my wrist again after the x-ray and ultra sound. My question is, has any of you ever had a ganglion cyst ever rupture in your wrist? Next question is, how long before the pain went away? I am accustom to pain since I wrecked my shoulder years ago. My left shoulder always hurts but I try not to think about it anymore. It's my right wrist this time so for the past couple days even using a knife and fork was not possible. My better half cut my food for me the last couple of days. LOL. There is only about a month left of walleye fishing and great crappie fishing, so getting out on the water is paramount. I was just hoping that someone could tell me how long it took to get back to normal, and doing chores and fishing etc. Here is a picture of my wrists today. You can see the right arm is quite swollen. I don't need any medical opinions, the doctor will tell me that. I was just wondering about the how long to getting back to normal? I would appreciate any comments from someone who has experienced this first hand.

This was yesterday when it was not as swollen but very red. It kind of feels like getting hit with a baseball, and my wrist only moves about a half inch in any direction. I have to get out fishing even if I have to build some sort of brace. LOL.

Sorry to hear that ....It will depend on your healing qualities and how much you aggravate it. Ganglion Cyst is right up there with tendinitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel achilles heel, rotator cuff.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. Got back from the doctor a few hours ago. The tests were inconclusive which is hilarious. I never noticed any bump ever on my wrist before this happened. The doctor said it can be below the surface enough never to be seen. It is common and rarely dangerous when it ruptures. I trust my doctor all the way to the bank. He has been with me for a long time and got me through all my shoulder destruction. No surgeries, we just took it slow and with a lot of patience. My shoulder will never get better but should not get any worse as long as I keep up with my program. Asked my doctor today if I can hold my fishing pole, can I go fishing this week. He said he knew that would be my first question. Then he said just be careful and don't catch any big fish. LOL. If my left shoulder can catch fish, I will just tell my right wrist to man up. So heading up to the lake tomorrow, just not sure yet how to do it. Short casts and hope for crappie and medium size walleye and bass. Definitely no muskie, fingers crossed. Saw this picture on another site. Thought it was funny and relevant. Tomorrow is day nine. Thanks again for the kind words. If it does not work out tomorrow then maybe Thursday.

Damn Jaime. Hope you get back to normal soon.
Probably no more boat fishing this year Lionel. Sorry, but I would not want to lose my balance and come down on the wrist. Fishing from shore is easy and close to the house.

Sorry to hear about your injury CM. I am going through a tennis/golf elbow healing process right now as well. I bought a brace to support the elbow when I need to get some stuff done. I have never had this before and it is quite painful and uncomfortable. I keep dropping things because my grip pressure is affected. Maybe a brace could help while you are fishing. Like this one?

Thank you very much for your suggestion. The car is packed and we are out of here. Looks like I might be fishing in the rain for a while later. I whipped this together an hour ago. It's a dollar store nylon glove wrapped in about 40 thin strips of tape. I criss crossed the tape like a checker board and then the brace goes on. I only need my index finger and thumb to cast so this should work. I hope. LOL. We will see. Now off we go on a unknown fishing adventure. Not even sure if the fish will be hungry.

this is painfull stuff and I have had it just about all.....maily due to fishing big fish and just wear and tear
I can only offer you this
Immobilize it as much as possible and rest it....
there are multible braces and or supports for the wrist and thumb and they really help
mine flares up now and then when I do something stupid......like splitting and stacking wood or lugging an outboard around and I pay for it for at least 2weeks
my chiro guy really helps with some stretches and massages
and ya, I still go fishing but am very aware of what motions to avoid if possible

Thank you Shank. Heading out fishing now. Still cloudy and cool but I think the rain is done. I tried a few casts in the yard and the brace is awkward but works. Good luck to anybody going fishing tonight or tomorrow. I am gone in a few minutes.
