Three times in the last 5 days I’ve had boats spool me. 1 was a sailboat that came from a km behind me. He caught up to me and pulled along side (50’) then turned straight towards me and over my trolling line. Then infront of whiskey island I was anchored in 14’ of water and a boat came straight at me and turned in the last 40’ or so! He spooled my braided line and on the same day I was fishing 15 fow beside magazine islands green bouy. Another boat full speed cut hard between the bouy and me. The whole lake was open every time. This week was ridiculous

I see this more and more often. People not giving the right of way or keeping their distance. It's not just out there on the water. There is less room out on the roads with people following too close and cutting cars off etc. etc. Even in the supermarkets there is less and less manners and common courtesy. Civility seems to be extinct and good behavior has been terminated. Of course I am exaggerating a bit. I do empathize with you as this happens with intrusive people. There is not much you can really do. I just bring my line in quick when someone is approaching the area around where I am fishing. Sorry about your fishing line, that can be costly for some braided lines.

Yes. I thought people would want to relax on the lake. Also for anyone boating in Penetang bay-there is a large dead head floating beside Magazine island. It’s only sticking out with waves and it’s about 12” diameter and longer than I can see down. It’s floating around the green can. That was on Sunday

I feel your frustration for sure.............unfortunately as already stated this behaviour is growing and will not be getting any better soon.

guess the safest thing to do is haul in your gear which is a Pita, but what can you realistically do otherwise

altercations won't solve this. believe me I have tried that route with sails

You mean requiring everyone to have a pleasure craft operators card and do the test online from home until you pass hasn’t helped? 🙃

Jokes aside, I dunno, I’ve seen it for years. You got the whole lake, and you need to come swing by me, or come show off how you can pin the throttle on your new sea doo…? I don’t get it

Same as yesterday, single lane highway, very few good passing zones, I’m following an RV with 3 cars behind him. Leaving a safe following distance and then eventually 2 or 3 more cars get caught up behind me and now we’re a line of maybe 8 cars. Douche behind me in his new Audi sedan sees a dashed line, signals, pulls out, races by me, realizes the line is now solid, can’t see over the hill, jams the brakes on and pulls in front of me still hard on the brakes. Wow, successful pass idiot! You’re now number 4 in line instead of 5. We’re still all travelling at the same speed. Several passing attempts were made by this guy to try and get by the next car, but each time he’d signal, pull out and then a car would be coming at him in the opposite direction, and he’d hit the brakes and signal back into his spot, which was right on the a## of the car in front of him of course. 30 km later, guy turns off on a side road, and I’m right behind him. All that for a 3 second gain 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ignorant idiots everywhere, on Sunday buddy pulled in his car with sea doo behind it while I was docked ready to pull out, I told him I am lined to go out . His answer was 2 minutes Bro I am just drop in and tie to the side. I went got my truck and trailer he is still on the ramp ,walks in the water pushing his sea doo off because he is not deep enough. 10 minutes of tugging and pulling finally jumps on and goes on the other side 100 yards down. Then spends half an hour trying to tie his sea doo to the dock stuffing life jackets in between trying to keep his stupid sea do from bumping to the dock because he does not want to scuff the rubber bumpers on his shiny new sea doo.
And all this time his BMW with his girlfriend in the passenger seat sitting on the ramp. And when we said something about how one person can tend the craft while the other pulls in And out the ramp . I got the good old attitude with the heavy Iranian accent BRO. F ing bull. TWENTY YEARS AGO I WOULD HAVE TOSSED HIM IN THE LAKE ALONG WITH HIS GIRL AND HIS CUTE UTE

Welcome to the world of entitlement. The days of working and saving for something you want are long gone. Now it's credit, credit and more credit, enter the "never ever plan", just pay the interest every month, that's it and you qualify for more credit. Never truly own anything, abuse everything and blame everyone else. In our wonderful world today, young and old generations just don't care about you, your property, their property or themselves. Use it! abuse it! replace it! The only people that find that sad are the ones who care. It's not just our roads, and water it's also expanded into Provincial Parks, noise, car alarms, yelling, don't even get me started on hygiene in washrooms. Is that really how they treat their home not being able to hit a toilet, throwing garbage wherever, letting their dog bark non stop the consistent smell of skunk weed. Nothing is like it use to be.

I don't think this is a new problem:

On the road I keep track and when its a idiot he is usually driving a Audi, BMW, Mercedes and I find it sadly humorous that two of the three cars are mentioned in posts on this thread.

To Wasaga you can only hope Karma gets them for running over your line....pray they screw up the seal with the intwined line.

Whats funny that I have had that exact same experience. Was I with you lol.

I live 5 min from simcoe and it is very hard to get on the water on the weekend and mostly because people are not respectful at all on the ramps. I actually think they need multiple ramps or employees present since we can no longer do thinks properly.
