let me start by saying the picture is crappy.

So there were 6 of these guys flying around. Looked like sparrow hawk in a way with a slight V in the tail both parts coming to a point. They flew like swallows after bugs and were quite high.

Neighbour said maybe swallow tail kites but they have more defined V and have white. These seemed to be all brown.

Any ideas?

Could be Nightjars also called Nighthawks. They have a unique call did you hear this?

Yes, if they are flying around at dusk into the evening, definitely Nightjars.

Very interesting bird, and I have never seen one up close, always way way up high in the sky flying like swifts. I first noticed them when I was a kid living in downtown Toronto, I would hear the screeches in the evening, freaked me out, until I researched them and identified them. Always wondered where they spent their days in the big city. Probably high up in building ledges.

That definitely the birds I saw. I wouldn't have even seen them if it wasn't for my dog showing me they were there. She is trained to watch the sky for incoming birds and planes apparently. I will walk at the same time tonight with the app turned on and see if it picks up their sound.

thanks again

Nighthawk. In the early evening when their wings are spread the white part close to the tips almost makes it look like they have "holes" in their wings, dead giveaway.

yes definitely nighthawks, there had to be a dozen of them tonight and I got a better look and saw the white on the wings. Funny for about a week been seeing seems like hundreds of dragonfly's in the same area now the nighthawks. So cool
