QUOTE (Fish_Finder @ Sep 17, 2023 - 11:33 am)
I used to catch about a dozen each day in June/July. Every september though they seem to dissappear.
Where do they go? I catch almost nothing shallow anymore.
Maybe try those dark pumpkin tube jigs that were working for Woodfarmer the other day. Or the 10 inch Zoom worm green pumpkin colour. Tomorrow afternoon I will be fishing in 8 to 10 feet of water right in the weeds. Casting and pulling the worm through the weeds. Or jigging off the side of the boat. Or casting a slip bobber and letting the worm settle 1 foot off the bottom. The retrieve will be slow. Any day now the large mouth bass will start to get lazy in the Kawarthas. If the bass sees an easy meal of a slow plastic bait they just can't resist. Also my friend only uses 3 to 4 inch minnows under a slip bobber this time of year three feet off the bottom in 8 to 10 feet of water in the weeds. Both methods bring us many large mouth bass from around lunch time until after dark. And again in the early morning. Not sure what size tube jig Woodfarmer was using. But here is the 10 inch Zoom worm. One more thought as the sun gets lower in the sky, the large mouth bass move in closer towards the shoreline.

they are still there was out yesterday and today got 9 yesterday and took a friend today and put about a dozen in the boat using frogs in any lily pads you can find stay out deeper if possible and first try the edges very slow is the game then move to the middle slight movements is the game plan . after that i move to texas rig with a max scent worm rigged weedless i try to keep the boat in 13 to 16 feet of water and toss the weed edges again slow movements , we lost alot of big fish today and i donated my second frog to the fish after he snapped it off . keep frogs and worms small seem to like it better at this time good luck and tight lines

I was out this past Saturday. The key for us was finding green vegetation. IF the weeds were starting to turn brown, the bass were not there. (The fishing was amazing!)
We started off a bit deeper in the morning and did well. As the sun rose, the water warmed a bit, and the fish seemed to move shallower. By noon, I was catching smallies right up on top of the rocks and sand in 2 ft of water. (The smallies love the sun!)
As the water temps begin to drop, the bass will head deeper (where the water is still warm). I'll look for deeper weed edges - even dropping off into 20'.

I am not really sure what you are talking about. What do you mean my pictures are blurry. LOL. I was not going to post this but here is a really blurry walleye from the other night. Glad you are catching lots of fish . Thanks for the funny post.

Adding some additional information to this thread.
Let's not forget that there are still some insect hatches that are happening in shallow water ranging from 1-3'. As a result of the insect hatches, some baitfish are moving shallow and the bigger fish are following them in.
Case in point....last week I was on them all afternoon. I was throwing a small Rapala Skitter Pop (size 5, frog pattern). Often times they were crushing it right as it hit the water. I've been around interesting bites before...but this situation just blew me away. I've never seen anything like it, and it stopped as soon as the sun went down.
I've also still been catching largemouth shallow as well...but that's for another post.

They are there...just aren't as interested in eating...but I think the lower temps are kicking in and making them hungry. Fish slow...got this guy today. My foot is 11" long...was fishing alone. Best I could do for a pic...too heavy to hold out!

Hmm...I'm of the opposite state of mind right now. They don't wanna chase. I used top water in calm morning conditions. Not a sniff!! Went to other baits. Whatever....they all want it different!!
